The birth of soft drink dates to the 17th century. It started off as lemonade before progressing into carbonated drinks which spread like wildfire.
Life is ever evolving and changing because, over time, people’s preferences mutate. The competitive market structure in our largely capitalist world promotes and propels these changes. However, time doesn’t always eradicate the need to reminisce on the past. These nostalgic moments help us travel through memory lane.
There are several soft or fizzy drinks we’ve loved overtime – coca cola is one of them – however, a few of these drinks met their demise for diverse or multiple reasons. We are listing three of our favourite drinks plucked from our childhood memories.
Dr Pepper
This drink was created in the 1980’s and although production hasn’t been discontinued, their sale within Nigeria has completely diminished.
Tandi Guarana
Popular in the 80’s and 90’s, Tandi Guarana, was similar to Coca-Cola and Pepsi, but they discontinued production and sales in Nigeria.
Gold spot
In my opinion, Gold Spot was the better tasting twin of Fanta. It was the better option for those who didn’t like cola drinks or Tandi Guarana.
Did you have a favourite drink from the 80’s or 90’s?

Have both tandy gurana & dr pepper gone to oblivion otherwise where could these drinks be found
I believe this article could have continued to tell us what happened to them. Were the companies acquired? Did they face difficulties running business in Nigeria? What were the difficulties/challenges? If they were sold, for how much and to whom?
