After UK singer, Adele made headlines with her 30 album for being the biggest seller in the United States, we are reminded of heartbreak songs. If you are a fan of Adele, you know she sings a lot about lost relationships and the likes. Her eleven tracks album is sure to have you crying hot tears if you are very emotional.
One thing we do know is that we have Nigerian musicians that have sung about such love dilemmas, some may be personal experiences, others make-belief. Here are 5 dramatic Nigerian break-up songs from a heartbreak experience in the spirit of throwback Thursday:
1. P-Square’s Omoge mi
Once upon a time, P-Square was inarguably the hottest thing after party jollof rice. They are reportedly back together after years of drifting apart ranging from family issues. Before now, P-Square gave us hits like this classic “Omoge mi” about catching your girl red-handed with your best friend. Painful? Isn’t it?
2. Djinee’s Ego
Djinee literally blew our minds with his hit song “Ego” in his sonorous unique voice. This dark handsome guy literally said, “If I die now I go happy say, say when I dey this world I don fall in love”. Really? So all he came to do in this world is give someone love?
3. Asa’s Bibanke
Asa took us to another level with Bibanke. Someone described the song as the type of heartbreak that went to Harvard. The song is for serious deep lovers that drifted not for a crush.
4. Darey Art Alade’s Not the girl
Darey gave us a matured heartbreak song. Complete with a suit and over-the-top piano, he sang about his girl switching upon him. It’s sad when people change for worse instead for better.
5. Ric Hassani’s Thunder fire you
Ric Hassani really took this heartbreak song personally to go to the extent of cursing his ex. To think that a choir assisted in the song, was a bit hilarious.
