What’s the need for celebration?
Imagine a 60-year-old adult still wearing diapers?
Shameful!
Torn apart, still ignorant and useless,
“There is nothing to show for being independence”
But have we forgotten about the positives?
Arable land, favourable climate, vibrant and innovative youths …
The gratitude list is like an empty tank, waiting to be filled,
Just know the situation could have much more worse,
It’s freedom over everything,
Yet we are in self-inflicted chains,
Tribalism, nepotism, insurgency,
Rigging of elections, abuse of power,
And corruption and greed the parents of all, casting shadows,
If only….
We had better leaders,
If only…
One could swap nationality asap,
Should we go on?
But don’t forget the grass seems greener on the other side,
How about watering our own to get same,
“It’s going to take a miracle” Someone says.
“Mission impossible” Another taunts.
“It is not worth it” Another turns his/her back.
But how have you affected change in your own space?
Truth is, we are all guilty,
Here is a reminder,
Everyone is a leader is their own right,
It is not all about position and titles,
Speak good leadership, think stewardship.
As much as today is low key,
There is a gleam of hope,
The moment you know,
It begins with you…..
