Petra, one of Jordan’s greatest tourist attraction, is also known as the Red Rose City. It was built by the Nabateans over 2000 years ago. The city is filled with grand temples, amphitheatres and tombs. You can get to Petra from any major city in Jordan by catching a JETT bus or Taxi. It is about three to four hours from Amman and Aqaba. The closest village to Petra is Wadi Musa.

The Siq
This is the main entrance leading into the ancient city of Petra. It is a beautiful passage between two rock walls.
The treasury
This is one of the most iconic monuments in Petra also known as Al-Khazneh. It is about 130 feet tall and is said to have been either a mausoleum or a storehouse.
The monsatery
This is one of the largest monuments in Petra. It was built in the 3rd century and is carved out of sandstone. It is said to have been a Nabatean Tomb and then later used as a Church Chapel.
High place of sacrifice
This is very close to the theatre and is a ceremonial platform and temple at the top of a mountain
The royal tombs
A collection of tombs created for aristocrats and monarch. It is made up of the Urn Tomb, Silk Tomb, CorinthianTomb and Palace Tomb
