As we gear up for our digital speaks edition, we shall be profiling each of our digital amazons and their remarkable achievements in the digital space, beginning with Florence Olumodimu. Our Woman Crush Wednesday, Florence Olumodimu, is a digital guru. She is a Marketing Communications Consultant, Image and Personal Branding Consultant, Digital Marketing Strategist and coordinator at DigifyNG.
She led the @DigifyNG Team to successfully host the first of its kind in Nigeria – an industry focused Digital Skills intensive training with real-life digital practical sessions, career soft skills, mentorship, live briefs, Industry Experts as Guest Facilitators, Agency visits, and guaranteed 3 months Work Placement to top off the whole experience.
Today, Nigeria has 40 well trained Digital Talents in its pipeline thanks to Digify Africa, with the support of Facebook and endorsement of APCON, AAAN, MIPAN, ADVAN and NIPR.
In her words:
Technology has become a vital driving force in our daily lives. To remain competitive today means constantly keeping up with digital trends and honing your digital skills. Sadly, despite technology’s increasing use in our personal and work lives, the supply of highly-skilled tech workers has not kept pace with the industry’s growth. The implication of this gap in Nigeria results in thousands of unfilled jobs. This opens up opportunities for the teeming unemployed graduates we have in the nation.
There is an increasing need for digital know-how from job applicants. Investing in the provision of digital skills and training will help the nation and the industry close the gap. Our findings from an industry assessment survey revealed low employability skills in the age range of 20 to 35-year-olds, making the need to add employability skills training to our curriculum an urgent matter.
We need to encourage our youth to look at Digital and Tech as viable career options for the future and embrace digital at an incredible level.
One training at a time, Florence Olumodimu aims at successfully bridging the gap that exists within the Digital space.
