Exceptional ladies who have distinguished themselves in their various fields make it to our Woman Crush Wednesday every week. Jennifer Ukoh fits the perfect description of our women crushes. She is the Public Relations Manager of GOtv Nigeria, a digital terrestrial television service owned by MultiChoice Nigeria. She is responsible for driving the PR strategy and content marketing for the brand and its catalogue of channels. As the leader of publicity for the hugely successful reality TV show, Big Brother Naija and the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, she is at the forefront of the recognition and celebration of film and TV talent across the continent.
Though a graduate of Microbiology from the University of Lagos, she developed a curiosity for brand storytelling at an early age whilst on set as a model for a TV commercial. This pushed her to work as an intern in West Africa’s foremost PR Agency, The Quadrant Company (now Quadrant MSL), right after graduation in 2010. She launched her career in marketing communications afterward in 2012 and has contributed directly to the reputation management and communications strategy of global brands such as Etisalat, Coca-Cola, Ford, Nokia and British Airways.
She made the move to the client side in 2015 when she joined MultiChoice Nigeria as a Public Relations Executive for DStv and played a key role in the ideation and execution of internal and external publicity strategies for the brand and its local and international channels.
Jennifer describes herself as a driven and self-starting professional, as well as a continuous learner. She holds a Diploma in Marketing Communications from the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK, and is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations. She specializes in corporate communications, media relations, content strategy, digital marketing, and brand management. This passionate lady loves crafting compelling narratives that effectively build brand equity and credibility, ultimately creating top-of-mind awareness and goodwill for discerning brands. Amongst other skills, her in-depth experience with issues and crisis management continues to distinguish her from her peers and competitors in various capacities.
Jennifer’s impact in the Nigerian marketing and communications industry has been lauded given that her contributions have led to the growth of the integrated marketing communications industry in Nigeria. In April 2021, one of Nigeria’s leading and consistent brands and marketing publications, Brand Communicator, listed her as one of the 40 Under 40 women to watch out for.
Whenever Jennifer is doing corporate communications-related work, she is committed to the advancement of gender equality. She is also invested in helping young talents to find their voice. She does this through youth mentoring and development.
