Our Woman Crush Wednesday, Joan Mbanefo-Ologeh is in a class of her own. She is an accomplished media professional with extensive expertise in content direction, production management, and creative development across multiple platforms. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication from Manuel S. Enverga University in Lucena City, Philippines.
With a career spanning over a decade, Joan has mastered the art of content creation and project management. At R-Wells Media and Advertising, she has excelled in various roles, including producing, directing, assistant directing, line producing, scriptwriting, script supervising, content conceptualisation, creative directing, voice acting (as a voice-over artist), content marketing, advertising strategies and campaigns, and styling.
Between 2016 and 2024, she oversaw the production of high-profile television and radio commercials, as well as corporate content for prestigious brands such as Lifemate Furniture, the World Food Programme, the United Nations, Green Lotto, Nivea, Golden Penny, NBC, Deutsche Bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria, and GBN (God Bless Nigeria).
Her portfolio includes the creation and execution of diverse campaign materials, including video adverts, radio jingles, and the production and direction of series, films, and documentaries.
Currently serving as Head of Special Projects at R-Wells Media and Advertising, Joan develops innovative content for online, radio, and TV platforms, trains media interns, and oversees the creative direction of client communications. As Creative Director and Project Manager at JYB TV, she led teams in producing content for niche markets, including health, children’s programming, and serial dramas.
She was actively involved in public speaking and debate competitions during her university years. Her early career included roles at Spirit FM and Seventh Films Production in the Philippines, where she contributed to radio programming and documentary filmmaking.
Joan’s academic success is matched by her accolades, with her creativity and commitment garnering multiple awards. She was named Television Host of the Year in 2012 and Best Radio Show Host at the NEMCEA Awards. Her shows have been awarded best television and radio shows in health, entertainment, and cooking categories.
