Somewhat like engineering, the tech space used to be a great example to buttress the argument of gender inequality caused by warped societal beliefs – like the “being a nurse is a woman’s job while being a doctor is a man’s job” ideology. Fast forward to a more progressive time, like now, and there are more women in the tech space than rustic minds would have imagined. (And, of course, there’s still room for more women.) Cue in our Woman Crush Wednesday and country director at Google Nigeria, Juliet Ehimuan-Chiazor.
Being at the helm of affairs of such magnitude is no small feat, but Juliet was fashioned for such responsibilities. Those who know her allude to the fact that she has always been very smart. One commenter said, “…She has always been very smart. I remember she won a scholarship to study French in France when she was in SS3, then (in) 1989 or so… she went to OAU Ife and was retained upon graduation…before travelling for her masters”
One can clearly notice a pattern of excellence, hence being listed in Forbes “20 Youngest Power Women In Africa” in 2011.
Juliet is a woman who is passionate about digital empowerment and through her position has encouraged more women in joining STEM – science, technology, engineering, and mathematics – fields.
