I love to say happiness is not happen-ness, it’s not about what has happened or didn’t happen. For me, it’s a state you put yourself, for science, there are hormones responsible for happiness. According to science, the feelings we experience are nothing more than chemical reactions taking place inside our bodies. Each and every emotion we experience is a result of triggered hormones inside our bodies.
That is to say, you may have had a nasty experience and hormones are triggered to make you feel awful…keep the right perspective, they are hormones…you can trigger the good ones and counter the negative feelings.
Here are logical ways to do that:
Exercising releases the good mood endorphins so that you are always in a better mood after a workout or simply a walk down the long street. One is yet to see a moody person after a workout or sweaty session. Exercises lift your mood.
Realign your thoughts. Happiness doesn’t come after success and life is a journey. You have to travel the road with happiness, not to meet happiness at the other side because you will always desire something more, higher salaries, more growth, better life…you can’t afford to stay unhappy till you have all that.
Write your negative thoughts and bad feelings and trash it. It works. then think and dream positive thoughts, your mind can’t be left blank. What more, positive thinking raises energy levels, creativity and productivity by as much as 30%.
Focus on the good, your strengths, the beautiful experiences and see the tiny good in every situation, no matter how little the thread of good and hold on to it.
To stay consistently happy, when you wake up, remind yourself mentally of three things that you can be grateful for. Choose to serve someone who needs a little care, shifting attention outwards away from your discomfort or bad mood cures negative vibes. Volunteer for a community service or with an NGO frequently.
And when overwhelmed, shut your eye for a good sleep, trust me, you’ll feel better and relaxed afterwards.
