It’s another time for #ThrowbackThursday. As a child, we were told certain things, some true, others false, which shaped our belief systems. Let’s look at a couple of them:
1. If a male touches a female, she would get pregnant
We got that advice as teenagers so we were wary about how we related with boys.
2. It is wrong to sweep at night
We were advised to sweep during the day and not night.
3. When someone crosses over your body, growth becomes stunted
Asides from being rude to cross over somebody, it was an unacceptable practice believed to hinder growth.
4. Hitting your left foot
A school of thought believes it brings bad luck for that day.
5. Pregnant women should wear a safety pin
Don’t know how true this is, but it was said that the safety pins protected the unborn child from evil people and spirits.
Do you know any others?
