Guy meets a lady or vice versa. They appear to be some chemistry so they kick off dating. Based on their compatibility, they decide to take the relationship further- they are getting married. They have the wedding of their dreams. After the wedding, it is normal to lose guard and relax, after all the end goal of marriage has been achieved. But this is just the beginning, it requires more work to make their marriage stand the test of time.
While both couples commit to giving 100: 100 in their marriage, we came up with a list of things they should do post-wedding and this includes:
1. Express gratitude to friends, family and well-wishers
Whether you had a local or destination wedding, one thing you need to do is send a thank you note to all your well-wishers. You should write a personalized note to all close friends and family members. For the rest of them, you can get and send a thank you card or a digital card.
2. Get your marriage certificate
This is definitely a very important thing to do once you tied knots. If you get married at a destination venue, then your wedding planner will take care of the legal process. If you get married locally or do not hire a wedding planner, then you have to take care of this process by yourself. Register your marriage and get the marriage certificate as soon as you can.
3. Process your change of name
This is optional, but in some cases, female partners need to change their second and last names after the wedding. For example, a passport is one of the important documents on which you may want to change your name. In some countries, to leverage the benefits of being a spouse, women need to change their names after the wedding. If you are one of them who would like to change your name, start the process for all documents to change the name.
4. Contact your wedding planner
A wedding is a big event in anyone’s life and this is the reason, the couple calls the best wedding photographer on this day. The next step has to be getting those photographers. Thus, finish the formalities and get the album of wedding photographs for yourself.
5. Organise your finances
This is important. You should have discussed finances prior to the wedding. If you plan on merging accounts, now is the ideal time to do so. We recommend visiting the bank to handle all the paperwork and talking with a banker with the questions you have.
