News report reveals that English actor, Idris Elba is in talks to star in the next James Bond film, but not as 007 himself. Ever since Daniel Craig’s departed from the 007 franchise, Elba has been rumoured to be his replacement despite him denying this last month at an ITV London premiere, saying “No, I’m not going to be James Bond.”
However, sources including The Sun have revealed that the Luther star is currently in talks to discuss taking on a role in the franchise in the next Bond film.
A source told the news outlet, “Idris has had informal talks with the studio, and he has been told there is a role in the next Bond film for him if he wants it. He won’t be the title character, but they do recognize the amount of pull and respect he commands, and they want to work with him on a completely original character for the next installment.”
It was also confirmed that discussions are only at the very early stages, but “it looks like it would be the role of a villain.”
Daniel Craig took a bow as secret agent James Bond in No Time To Die, which opened in cinemas last month. Speaking on his exit, Craig revealed that he first discussed the idea of how he would leave the franchise before he started work on Casino Royale.
“When I started as Bond on Casino Royale, one of the early discussions I had with [producers]Barbara [Broccoli] and Michael [G Wilson] was that I would like to be killed off when I am finished,” he revealed
The end of Craig’s era as 007 saw the beloved agent sacrifice his own life in order to save the world – and the lives of Madeleine Swann and their daughter Mathilde – from the deadly antagonist, Heracle.
