My son, life is a journey. However we must be careful to stay the path we have charted. We must be single minded in this regard because there are may detours along the path that we might be tempted to take, We should summon all our will power to make sure that we ignore detours which enticingly beckon to us and stick to the path we have chosen.
I tell you a story: a woman was about cooking a pot of okra soup, when she discovered she did not have sufficient okra to prepare the soup, as she would like. She called her husband to please assist her get some okra from a very nearby neighborhood market. The man gladly obliged the wife and went off to the market. When he got to the market ,he stopped by an okra seller’s stall. The lady was surprised to see a well-groomed gentleman trying to purchase okra. Teasing him they engaged in petty banter which turned out to be quite fun for both of them. They found themselves laughing and quite relaxed. The man, as the banter went on, could not but notice that the okra seller not only had a great sense of humour, she was quite attractive.
That was the beginning of a clandestine friendship which the man’s wife was the last to know. The man from then on would often stop by the woman’s shed ostensibly to pick up out one item or the other, and before you could spell okra they started an affair, which eventually ended the man’s marriage when his wife discovered it.
My son, I am sure you have heard the statement, “from buying okra you enter market,” and before you know it you begin to buy other ingredients you did not set out to buy.
So my son, when you have a goal, stick to that goal and achieve it. Do not let side attractions derail you from your goal.
