Veteran Nigerian singer, Charles Oputa aka Charly Boy has called out Nigerian youths for having misplaced priorities. According to him, they are more interested in the Big Brother Naija reality show than important national issues.
Taking to his Instagram page on Monday to show his disappointment, he lamented:
“I no Understand Naija Youths. Una shame dey shame Me,”
He differentiated between Nigerians’ reactions to the Big Brother Naija show and a national national issue such as the 2019 signing of Electricity Road Map agreement between the Federal Government of Nigeria and German-based Siemens.
“Big Brother Naija: Erica caught on camera having sex with Kiddwayya. Nigerians Comments — 60,700 Likes — 103,000 Shares — 70,800
“Nigerian Govt signs power generation contract with Siemens to boost electricity. Nigerians Comments — 4 Likes — 2 Shares — 6”
He further went on to compare the total number of votes cast during the Big Brother Naija 2019 edition with the total number of votes cast in the 2019 General election.
“— Total number of votes cast Big Brother Nigeria 2019 = 170 million. — Total number of votes cast General election 2019 = 27 million.”
Charly boy concluded by saying: “A practical reality of who we are as people and where our priority lies as citizens. The funny side in all of these is that we still go to bed, have a good sleep and wake up with the hope to meet a Nigeria we didn’t create. Mumu Nigerians! Mumu Nigerians!! Mumu Nigerians!!!”
Big Brother Naija, formerly known as Big Brother Nigeria is a Nigerian reality competition where 12 to 21 contestants live in an isolated house and compete for a large cash prize, and other material gifts, at the end of the show by avoiding being evicted from the house by viewers.
