The order, issued via statement from President Jonathan’s spokesman Reuben Abati, said Sanusi was suspended for “various acts of financial recklessness and misconduct which are inconsistent with the administration’s vision of a Central Bank.” He has been replaced by his deputy Sarah Alade as acting governor.Sanusi, who is currently in Niger at an ECOWAS event spoke, to CNBC Africa and vowed to challenge the suspension, although he said he would not return to CBN even if his challenge is successful. ArticleAward winning writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has written an article in response to Nigeria’s Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act. “A crime is a crime for a reason. A crime has victims. A crime harms society. On what basis is homosexuality a crime?” she writes. The law, approved on the 7th January 2014, bans gay marriage and makes it punishable by up to 14 years in jail.
