African Women in Technology (AWIT) successfully hosted the Nigerian edition of its International Women’s Day 2026 Global Series on March 12, 2026, at the Nexford University Community Space, Lagos.

The global nonprofit organisation advancing women’s leadership in technology, innovation, and digital economies, had as the theme of their event “Give to Gain: Balancing the Scale”. They brought together leaders across technology, business, media, finance, and policy to explore how women can move from participation to ownership and decision-making power in Africa’s digital economy.

A key highlight was the panel on “The Power of Visibility: Media, Innovation & Africa’s Tech Narrative,” featuring Adaudo Anyiam-Osigwe of Pride Magazine Nigeria, Ayeni Oluwatobi Dorcas (MissTechy), and Patricia Uyeh, which explored how storytelling and media visibility shape opportunities within the tech ecosystem. Pride Magazine Nigeria also served as the official media partner for the convening.

The programme also featured a panel session on “The Future Is Female – AI, Data and Digital Power,” with Dr Taiwo Anjorin, Olufunmi Olaosun, and Zusi Inegbeniki, discussing women’s leadership in emerging technologies.

Other sessions included insights from Oluwatosin Olaseinde on financial literacy and fintech, and Toluwanimi Onakoya on the role of storytelling in strengthening Africa’s innovation narrative.

The event closed with a powerful conversation featuring Juliet Eze, Tinuade Oguntuyi, and Sara Pinheiro, focusing on how women can transition into leadership and influence across systems.

The convening strengthened networks, increased visibility for women innovators, and reinforced the role of collaboration across media, technology, and business in shaping Africa’s digital future.
