We reported, last month, that singer and songwriter blackface believes he’s been blacklisted by the media for claiming Wizkid stole his songs. Well, the singer wants us all to know he isn’t backing down easily. On Thursday, he shared with his three thousand plus followers that he has decided to take the legal route to get justice for his stolen intellectual property, going as far as sharing the filed lawsuit. It is clear the singer isn’t bluffing.
The shared post came hours after the singer compared the two songs slow whine and superstar side by side, the latter being wizkid’s. As usual, the post was accompanied by a caption that was emotional and contained fragments of frustration.
“I have remained quiet while my name has been dragged in the mud the past few years. Some of Nigeria’s biggest artists have infringed on my copyrights but I always restricted myself speaking out against this in the media. Maybe because I always felt that music is an art and not really a business where yo bring in lawyers and all that. That’s why I couldn’t believe when I was sued for N50m by the same people who stole my intellectual property.” He expressed.
“I have nothing personal against Wizkid and Banky, in fact I can say I groove to both their music, but the fact is that they stole my song in 2011 and there’s clear evidence to prove it. We’ll allow the court to decide.”
Fans of the singer have split opinions; some believe he should move on from the past, while others don’t. Whatever the case is, we hope justice prevails.
