Ireti Samuel-Ogbu has been appointed by American investment bank, Citigroup as its first female country officer of Citigroup. This is coming 36 years of its operation in Nigeria.
Samuel-Ogbu, who assumes office on September 1, replaces Akin Dawodu, who was appointed as head for sub-Saharan Africa in November. Describing her, Citigroup says that she has a vast wealth of experience and talent in Nigerian banking and would work with the Bank’s institutional partners in Africa’s largest economy.
She has served in a couple of roles in the bank since 2012, including stints as Head of Cash management in Africa and Managing director of payments and receivables, treasury and trade solutions for Europe, Middle East, and Africa at the Citigroup’s London office. She would be relocating to Lagos to take on her new role.
