One business that appears to be doing well during the coronavirus pandemic is the adult-toy business. Reports show that this business recorded a huge increase in sales due to rising demand this period. This has prompted the companys’ need to develop new toys to satisfy their growing customer base.
This increase and development of new toys were announced by Sex Doll Genie co-founder Janet Stevenson who said they are struggling to keep on top of orders, having seen “hundreds” more enquiries in recent months. The majority of Sex Doll Genie’s stock are non-electronic dolls.
The Daily Mirror reported that Stevenson said customers range from single men, whose orders have risen by 51.6% over February and March, to couples who bought 33.2% more year-on-year in April.
In her words:
“Couples who have been quarantined together seem to be much more open to trying something new after possibly experimenting more during the lockdown. We are also seeing more single men and women placing orders for the first time; we think this is because they view solo play as a safer alternative to dating apps like Tinder right now.”
It was gathered that the company is planning to develop new toys that can interact with its users. Fellow Sex Doll Genie co-founder, Amit, told the Daily Star Online they are planning to supply sex robots that breathe and have a human-like heartbeat.
