Beautiful fingers are very attractive. Unkempt dirty fingers, on the other hand, are terrible to behold and very embarrassing. The fingers say a lot about a lady. This is why some ladies go the extra mile of doing regular manicure and nail fixing.
In this period of social distancing because of the coronavirus pandemic, some ladies may have a hard time going to the saloon for manicure. The good news is that they can do it themselves from home.
Here is an easy ‘Do-It-Yourself’ guide for a manicure at home:
- Assemble the essential tools i.e. Nail-polish remover and cotton swabs or pads, Nail clippers, Emery board and nail buffer, Cuticle pusher and nippers, Callous/cuticle remover, Hand/nail moisturizer, Base coat, Nail polish, Clear topcoat
- Remove previously applied nail polish with a good nail polish remover that is mild on your skin
- If necessary clip your nails then use nail file to shape your nail edges
- Then place your hands in a bowl of warm water with a little shampoo. This is to make your cuticles soft for trimming.
- When cutting away the thickened skin around your nail, apply some cuticle remover. Be careful while doing this so you don’t hurt yourself.
- Moisturise your cuticles with a rich cream or silky oil
- Using a cotton swab or pad, apply nail-polish remover over the nail’s surface to remove any residue. ensure your nails have nothing oily or emollient on them
- Paint nails in layers. Two coats of colour polish followed by a top coat to add gloss should do
- Be patient to allow nail polish dry well
- Then reapply moisturiser on your fingers and voila! You are good to go
