…Continued from last week.
“Are you asking me out?”
“Yes. We could go to the mall right after I see my friend.”
“Do you mean like a date or something?” he asked a little disconnected from my enthusiasm
“Are you not interested?” noticing his lack of excitement.
“I just don’t think that wouldn’t be a good idea for now.
I felt a sudden rush of heat down my spine. The sound of those words shattered my confidence. Was I too forward to have asked? I was embarrassed.
“Do you have a girlfriend?” I continued.
“No I don’t,” he replied
“So what’s the problem? You don’t find me attractive?” I asked desperately trying to salvage whatever was left of my pride.
“I find you rather charming.” He responded with a smile “It is just against my professional ethics to get involved with a patient, especially during consultations. I could lose my license.”
His explanation calmed my agitation a little and besides, he said he finds me “charming”, that’s a good consolation. I could understand why he was reluctant and why he’s been declining my previous invitations. He fancied me but had restrictions.
When we got to Chioma’s house it was empty, she had moved and all efforts to inquire about her new location from the neighbours proved futile. I decided to head back home and Doctor Obi was patient enough to wait and take me back.
On our way back, we exchanged banters and shared stories of awkward experiences with our exes. He’s quite funny and witty, he’s also very manly and broad-chested… Geez! I need to get my mind out of the gutter!
He parked a couple of blocks away from my house, rolled down his windows and we carried on the conversation late into the night with soft music playing in the background.
“It is getting quite late; won’t your folks be worried?” He asked genuinely concerned.
“Yeah, I should go home before my parents start to worry,” I pictured my mom’s evil eye asking me a thousand questions if I got in too late.
We exchanged goodbyes and he hugged me. It lasted longer than a normal hug and as we slowly withdrew from each other, our eyes met. A thousand thoughts flashed through my mind in split seconds, my heart starts to race really fast. I kissed him. His lips welcomed mine in a blissful exchange that triggered fireworks all over my body. His hands began to probe every inch of me in an erotic display of passionate desire. I melted into his arms like wax on a hot iron as he divided and conquered every inch of my body. It felt like a dream and although the timing was off, we were more than eager to carry on.
The sound of my phone ringing jolted me back to reality. It was my mum and this signalled the end.
“I have to go now, it’s getting really late.”
“I’m sorry I got carried away,” He said remorsefully.
“You don’t have to apologize.”
“But I’m still your therapist, I should know better than to do this.”
“I kissed you first, so technically it’s my fault, not yours. Anyways thanks a lot for the ride. I enjoyed my time.”
“I’m glad you did. See you tomorrow.”
“Bye.”
“Goodnight.”
As I got into the house, the only thing I could think about was the kiss.
My nightmare was slowly turning into a blissful dream and i couldn’t wait to tell Tola all about it. Her number was on speed dial.
“Babe, how are you still up at this time?” she answered reluctantly and still sounded very sleepy
“Wake up jor, I have gist for you.”
“Calm down, why are you so excited.”
“It’s doctor Obi!”
“What’s up with doctor Obi?” she yawned.
“We’re in love!” I announced happily.
“Slow down sweetie, how do you know this?”
“He picked me up today when I requested an Uber; it’s a long story but we kissed and it was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever experienced. I’ll gist you the rest of it tomorrow.”
“Wait, so because of one kiss, you’re now in love? Anyway, tell me the rest jor!”
“No! I thought you were feeling sleepy amebo!” I said sarcastically.
“Well since you won’t finish your story, let me tell you the latest drama. Do you remember Sam the London guy?”
“Err sure, the ‘London boy’ that almost got you pregnant.”
“He called today to inform me that he’s already in Nigeria to take care of me and the baby.”
“Huh?!”
To be continued next week.
