Our Man Crush Monday, Ameyaw Kissi Debrah has put his mark in the creative space. He is a highly skilled content creator, from being an entertainment and lifestyle blogger to a social media influencer, Ameyaw does it all. He founded Ameyaw Debrah Media about a decade ago, and through the company provides media, publishing and PR services to diverse clients.
Ameyaw ventured into the world of entertainment, media, arts and culture soon after graduating with a BA in publishing studies from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana, where he was voted the Best Publishing Student in 2005. He did his compulsory national service at Ovation International magazine in Accra. At Ovation, he was in charge of reporting entertainment and celebrity news in Ghana for the publication’s global audience.
He then worked as a contributor to several US-based pan-African online portals and later joined Orijinent.com and Jamati.com. In November 2007, he moved to Voices of Africa, a project based in the Netherlands, where he created content from Ghana for www.africanews.com.
After participating in a few conferences in South Africa, Ameyaw returned to Ghana rejuvenated and with a new focus. He made a major move and launched his blog jadedrenegade.blogspot.com in June 2008. Alongside blogging, he was contributing to ModernGhana.com as a columnist. His content drew many engagements and audiences and in August 2008, he was recruited by www.ghanaweb.com as a content editor. In June 2009, he launched another blog, www.ameyawdebrah.com, and subsequently left Ghanaweb in May 2012 to fully concentrate on blogging.
As a result of Ameyaw’s consistency and creativity, www.ameyawdebrah.com has become a household name in providing rich entertainment and lifestyle news not only in Ghana but across Africa. In 2018, he started Ameyaw TV, which currently streams different segments – Daily Buzz, News in One, and Trend Mill.
Ameyaw has also found time to manage other projects. He joined Ringier Ghana Limited as Project Manager, and in December 2014, helped launch Pulse.com.gh. He later joined Yen.com Media Limited as Country Manager to launch YEN.com.gh in August 2015. In 2020, he took up the role of Editor-in-Chief of Scooper News app. Ameyaw is also a regular contributor on several pan-African platforms including StarGist on Africa Magic, www.dstv.com, and Glitz Africa magazine.
In the course of his work, Ameyaw has interviewed many international personalities such as Kofi Annan, Rev Jesse Jackson, John Legend, Damon Dash, Adé Bantu, Jimmy Jean-Louis, David Clowney and Santonio Holmes, to mention a few.
