The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) is collaborating with SystemSpecs, a Nigeria-based Information and Communications Technology firm, to boost the Central Bank of Nigeria’s cashless policy drive.
As a result of this development, MLSCN has migrated to the electronic payment system through Remita, a multibank e-payment platform that allows e-payment, e-collections, e-payroll and e-schedule solution developed by SystemSpecs.
According to a statement by SystemSpecs, the initiative is part of the firm’s efforts to ease payment processes for corporate organisations and individual members that make payment regularly. It said the migration would enable MLSCN to collect all fees and penalties on the platform instantly.
The statement quoted the Business Development Manager, Abuja and Northern Operations, SystemSpecs, Mr. Iliya Musa, as saying that the platform would provide the over 20,000 members of the council multiple channels to make payments to the council. This, it said, could be done at any bank branch listed on the platform.
“This payments can be made through the bank’s Internet site, credit/debit card, Remita (for registered Remita users), mobile wallets or with direct debit/standing order,” Musa added.
He said the platform “is expected to improve administrative and operational efficiency of the council through electronic invoicing of individual and corporate members, streamlining collection of fees and dues through multiple channels, and ensure prompt collection of funds into authorised MLSCN’s account.”
