‘Monday morning fever’ is real. It makes you get on your toes, get busy and get what needs to be done – done. Some people are not motivated on a Monday morning. The reason may not be far-fetched. It can be because they don’t like their jobs, the people they work with, the work culture, their work environment, or they are just plain lazy!
If you want to get on a head-start on a Monday morning when everything seems slow and non-functional, that it makes you non-motivated;
1. Get a headstart the night before
Since it is usually the first working day, it is good you start off on a good note. Monday mornings may be chaotic depending on what you do and where you are. Experts advise you plan the day before. You can start with your to-do list on Sunday evening. Also, plan what you will wear, eat and hope to achieve at the end of the day.
2. Meditate
It is not unusual to feel stressed. It can be draining and rob you off the energy for the whole day. Looking at the lifestyle of those who are good at managing stress, one common thing they do is meditate. Practise calming your nerves, give yourself a dose of encouragement by starting a daily meditation practice. This helps clear your mind and focus on preparing your mind and body for the day.
3. Think good thoughts
Research shows that your thoughts affect your actions. Your thinking will either result in a successful, productive day or lead to a disappointing, unproductive day. Anytime a negative thought enters your mind, don’t entertain it. Instead, say the opposite of the negative thought.
4. Eat well
Don’t expect to get through the day if you don’t eat a healthy breakfast. Nutritionists and medical professionals recommend eating well first thing in the morning, so you can give your body a better chance of being able to fight against fatigue and disease. What you eat also affects your mood.
5. Exercise
According to the experts, when you exercise, chemicals called endorphins are released, which are thought to elevate mood. Begin your day with a morning bike ride or run. Dancing has also been shown to be a source of inspiration.
6. Get enough sleep
Did you notice that when you don’t sleep enough, you become irritable and unproductive? Generally, adults need an average of seven to nine hours of sleep each night, according to the National Sleep Foundation. More so, chronic sleep deprivation can lead to several health problems. Some of the results of not getting enough sleep include poor immunity, decreased heart health, high blood pressure, and even diabetes, according to Harvard researchers.
