Style and Rhythm: A New Character

Here I am sitting in a dark corner

Feeling desolate

I force myself to eat

Try to put up a little smile but to no avail

Lost in thoughts of past events

I remember the days we were together

It seemed like you were mine forever

Your smiles were my joy

Your laughter my hope for tomorrow

I found my world in you

You were the light of my existence.

I never knew you would leave

That you would find someone else

Now all the love we shared has been tossed aside

The candles are off

I am left here in the dark

Oh how I wish I knew

I would have made myself the source of my own happiness.

I see a new me

A wild beast

An unloving person

A character of hatred, rage and anger

Never to open up my heart again.

A total stranger to myself with a new attitude.

I guess

Behind every newly displayed characteristic

A memorable past.
