Dear Diary,
How come he does not like the idea of bringing my pastor into the picture? Since we started dating, I have been raising the suggestion of his visiting my pastor. He frowns at the idea. At first, it was the constant procrastination of the visitation. Presently, it is a no-no. Why doesn’t he like the idea of seeing the pastor give his consent to our dating??
It’s been two years, thirty-four days since Nike and Kitan have been dating. Sister Nike as she was fondly called by her church members, was the chief chorister in church. Her voice alone could move mountains.
It was as light as a feather and as thick as cable, and those who genuinely loved her ministrations could testify of the unique gift of hers. Brothers in the church looked forward to Nike leading praise and worship. The way she drew her notes and took high pitches would surely make the devil quiver.
Out of the brothers, it was Kitan she later ended with. In the first place, he was not a member of her church. Fate had brought them together. In her mind, she would change him. He was not even the church-going type. Carefree and jovial, were the right adjectives to describe Kitan’s personality. She liked that he respected her views to wait till marriage before any form of intimacy.
Did he have ulterior motives? She was left wondering. He had come to fill a vacuum in her life. After she lost her father, things went awry. It was a trying period for her, siblings and mom. Thankfully, her meeting Kitan was like the beam of the sunrise, filling up a dark room.
Kitan was a good guy, he had a good heart but she wondered why he was not having any of the ‘come and see my pastor’ talk. At least he knew she was a church giurl, so he should expect such talks. How would she convince him to swallow that bait? Or ‘was it unnecessary or had she made her pastor an idol’ as he claimed?
