“Kabiyesi” crooner, Dr Sid, also known as Sidney Onoriode Esiri, recently disclosed from music to film production. He made this known in a BTS podcast interview.
Having a music career that witnessed great success, awards, global tours, and hit songs, his last music project didn’t meet his expectations. This was his reason for venturing into filmmaking. The singer explained that he had accomplished his musical dreams and wanted to try something new in his career.
He also talked about his love for gaming which prompted him to start a company in Nigeria to contribute to the country’s gaming industry.
“I had lived my dream in music, won awards, toured the world, and had hit records. But my last project didn’t get the response I expected,” Dr Sid said. “I’ve always wanted to make films, so it felt like the next step.
While doing that, I also discovered the potential of the gaming industry, which is a $3 billion industry, surpassing music and film combined. So, I decided to invest in building the Nigerian gaming ecosystem.”
Dr Sid, who was formerly a member of the Mo’Hits records (now Mavin records) had previously spoken about his efforts to keep the record label united.
The new Mavin records manage artistes like Crayon, Johnny Drille, Ayra Starr, Magixx, and others.
