As always we bring to the spotlight women who are setting the pace and excelling in their profession. Our Woman Crush Wednesday, Adekunbi Ogunde is an experienced corporate and finance lawyer. She is currently a Senior Counsel at Wemimo Ogunde & Co, a reputable law firm associated with dispute resolution practice and headed by a renowned Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
As a public speaker, Adekunbi has graced several international conferences, notably as the youngest speaker of African Descent at the prestigious International Bar Association Conference 2019 that was held in Seoul, South Korea. Over time, she has grown and garnered recognition globally.
Previously, she had worked at the London office of an eminent international law firm, Mayer Brown International LLP forming an integral part of the Finance and Projects team. She advised on cross-border, multijurisdictional transactions particularly relating to corporate & project finance, infrastructure, energy, and capital markets.
Her drive for high professionalism and excellence has earned her several accolades. She was selected on a highly-competitive basis by McKinsey & Company as one of McKinsey Next Generation Women Leaders in Nigeria 2018. She was also selected as a finalist for the Nigeria’s Rising Star Award at the Nigerian Legal Awards 2019; and as a fellow for the inaugural Africa Arbitration Academy 2019 which was held in London, United Kingdom.
Adekunbi is also noted for her rising arbitration profile. She is a member of the Young International Arbitration Group of the London Court of International Arbitration; International Chamber of Commerce Young Arbitrators Forum; Association of Young Arbitrators; and Institute of Transnational Arbitration (a division of The Centre for American and International Law).
Adekunbi holds an LL.B from the University of Hull and an LL.M in International Law from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom.
