Our ‘woman crushes’ are often adults with effective achievements. However today, there’s a little deviation because although our pick is not an adult, she has demonstrated characteristics and excellence that is worth celebrating and emulating. Cori (a.k.a. CoCo) Gauff is now known as the 15-year-old school girl who hit Venus Williams – known as Wimbledon royalty – out of the game. And today, she lands the spot as our Woman Crush Wednesday.
Surprised by her victory which shocked the world, moments after her win, she said:
“I definitely had to tell myself to stay calm, I have never played on a court so big, but I had to remind myself that the lines on the court are the same size. Everything around it might be bigger, but the lines are the same and after every point, I was just telling myself to stay calm. I never thought this would happen, I am literally living my dream right now, and not many get to say that.”
The young girl is proof that having self-assurance and determination is a key ingredient to achieving success despite how challenging the situation may be.
