Nigerian women are on the rise. The country has produced a lot of females of prominence who are excelling in their chosen professions, changing the negative stereotypes, and breaking the glass ceilings.
Our Woman Crush Wednesday, Funmi Abiola, a top-level marketing professional, is one of such women. She is the Head of Marketing and Communications of Massilia Motors and the CFAO Automotive Division in Nigeria. A consummate brand specialist par excellence, Funmi is a dogged first-class auto professional, who is passionate about building purposeful brands.
Funmi has over 10 years wealth of experience spanning across the European and Nigerian automotive industry. An expert at problem-solving and project management, she has a track record of pioneering, designing, and executing successful marketing campaigns.
It is no denying that Funmi has proven to be good at what she does. Her CAN-DO attitude and tenacity are some qualities we find worthy of emulation. In 2016, Funmi’s quest to make an impact in the food industry led to her starting up the Lagos Food Corner, a lifestyle and restaurant review page. She organically built 10,000 followers on Instagram, and presently continues to create quality content as an influencer in the food industry. In 2020, Funmi started a LinkedIn Group: Shine Your Light – The Young Marketing Pro Hub, to inspire and mentor the new generation of marketing leaders.
It is this same CAN-DO spirit that was crucial to the execution of the first ever virtual automotive event in Nigeria for the launch of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, which Funmi was an integral part of.
Funmi is bilingual (French & English, a bit of Spanish) and obtained a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Marketing and Communications from ISEG Business school France.
With a strong presence in marketing and communications, Funmi’s reputation stands unwavering and unparalleled. Not only has she carved a niche for herself in both sectors, but she has also used her position to empower others. It is evident that the sky is just the starting point for her. We commend Funmi for the good works and celebrate her as our Woman Crush Wednesday.
