Our Woman Crush Wednesday is the extraordinary Kelly Mgbor. Kelly’s motto, “Lend your voice to the voiceless, to encourage, support and celebrate others” guides her decisions and enables her to live and work with what she considers the language everybody understands – LOVE, and through this principle, breaks artificial barriers.
Kelly is a lawyer, experienced in international IT and corporate law, governance, risk management and compliance, as well as experienced in brand management. She currently works at WTS Global, a Munich-based global tax practice, where she develops, manages and drives high-level strategic projects. She is a global ambassador and champion of her organisation, and is one of the leading pioneers, host and moderator of their Global Virtual Summit.

She is a passionate advocate for children, young adults and women, and devotes time to inspire, educate and empower them towards becoming the best version of themselves. Kelly serves on boards of organisations that align with her vision, principles and beliefs. She sits on the board of the Daniella Logun Foundation, a UK-based charity that provides emotional, spiritual, practical and physical support to children and young people diagnosed with brain tumours as well as their families. Kelly is also a member of the Advisory Board of Directors of Don’t Be Vanilla Studios, a UK-registered media representative organisation set up to educate, coach and mentor the younger generation, particularly women, and engaging them using the art of storytelling. She is a registered mentor at the Robert Gordon University, her alma mater’s Graduate Mentoring Programme in Scotland, and supports graduating students who are facing challenges of unemployment or dealing with Covid-19 while transitioning to the new phase of their lives. She is also a member of the International Board of Agribusiness Advisory Council (IBAAC) and serves as a Trustee for the Nigerian Young Farmers Network on a mission to ‘Raise a Million Farmers’, offering advice and mentoring youth.

Kelly is an active member of the EU-Africa Bridge Group, which contributes to efforts to alleviate poverty and create opportunities by building ‘bridges’ between Europe and Africa. She has a natural disposition and flair for organising and anchoring professional events, conferences and webinars that promote knowledge sharing. Kelly periodically hosts virtual series for her alma mater, Federal Government Girls’ College, Owerri which centres on knowledge sharing and awareness-raising in a psychologically safe space.

On Sundays, you will find Kelly singing in her neighbourhood Baroque-style church with the multinational choir during mass. Other times, you may find her keeping active by hiking, cycling or running. She looks forward to springtime when the daffodils in her garden start to bloom, and loves to explore the sights and sounds of a new city or snorkel if there’s an ocean close by. She also finds joy and comfort at home playing chess, baking, or cooking her special ‘party’ jollof rice. For Kelly, life is about living the 3 Ls – Live, Love and Laugh, and she does all to the fullest. Join us here at Pride Magazine Nigeria in celebrating her!
