Our Woman Crush Wednesday, Love Nebo – media consultant, film director, and writer – is making headway in the Nigerian media and communications space. She has continually delivered value to businesses in the area of brand management, social media community management, public relations, and campaigns. Her input into business plans through research findings and strategies has made her the go-to person for creative business solutions.
The Onitsha-born professional always looks at the brighter side of life. Her upbringing, immersed in both the religious Christian and the indigenous Igbo cultures has made an impact on her journey as a creative and socio-political activist. Being passionate about storytelling, she pursued a degree in English and literary studies at the University of Nigeria Nsukka. She then moved to Abuja, and later Lagos, to pursue a professional career.
Love’s gifts have opened doors and enabled her career progression. She is a dependable leader with an eye for creative direction, writing, and production, and an innate talent for negotiation. She was able to learn all these skills as a newbie in the industry and has grown to be a marketing and business strategist that has worked with organisations such as Diageo, Afrinolly, Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), and Institut français.
Over time, Love delved into filmmaking as another way of creative expression, and worked hard to learn the art. Love is an alumna of the Accelerate Filmmaker Project (2018), Co-Creation Hub Media Fellowship (2018), Nigeria Creative Entrepreneur Programme by the British Council (2019), and the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs Programme organised by the US Embassy in Nigeria in partnership with Arizona State University (2019).
At the end of 2019, she established a media consultancy, Tales by Brownie. She also has a platform – Project Aces Nigeria – through which she provides a space for the Pan-African asexual community to have a voice. Her activism extends to politics, and she provides spaces for youth participation and engagement in elections.
With an unshakeable faith in love, she is passionate about travelling and unravelling stories with her life partner, the French creative consultant and strategist Maurice Chapot. And with this zeal, Love is about to launch her second company Savannah Creatives, to harness the human innate creative power. Pride Magazine Nigeria celebrates Love Nebo for all her hard work and passion in the creative industry. This day, she stands as a worthy Woman Crush Wednesday.
