Every Wednesday, we celebrate remarkable women and Nnenna Onyewuchi is not an exception. Nnenna, who is our Woman Crush Wednesday, is a marketing communications expert with over 20 years’ experience.
Her career began at McCann Erickson, New York. She started out coordinating business development activities for the New York office and offices across the network for global pitches. From there she moved into Strategic Planning, where her exceptional abilities earned her the position of Vice President. While at McCann, she co-created Tag Ideation, a lifestyle marketing practice group within the agency. As part of her work on Tag, she pioneered a set of non-traditional research tools and co-designed a proprietary branding model.
Since her return to Nigeria in 2004, Nnenna has worked in advertising, experiential marketing, pay TV, and content development. Before joining ZK Advertising in 2007, she had worked at Chris Parkes Marketing Solutions, Small World Media, HiTV, and TBWA/Concept.
Nnenna has been a consistent, high-performing professional. During her second year as Strategy Director at ZK, she took on the additional role of Creative Director. During her time in the dual role, she developed award-winning advertising for a variety of clients. Another highlight of her career was when she and her partners took over the agency, rebranding it as Yellow Brick Road and growing it into one of Nigeria’s most respected agencies.
Nnenna has built a sterling reputation within the marketing industry. Her experience spans a multitude of brands across numerous categories including, Coca Cola, Absolut, Kohl’s Department Stores, Sharpie, Microsoft, Xbox, British American Tobacco, Dangote, Paga, BlackBerry, Jumia, Oando, Access Bank, FCMB, FirstBank, Canon, MTV Base, Celtel, Zain, Glo, MTN, Girl Effect, and UNICEF.
Nnenna currently sits on several boards and is Chairperson of the Board of West African Vocational Education, a non-profit committed to ending youth unemployment in the West African sub-region. Nnenna is a high profile career professional worthy of admiration. She is not only good at what she does but is committed to being better. For this reason, we applaud her and welcome her to the Pride Women Hall of Fame.
