Olawunmi Onabajo has distinguished herself in character and career, so she graces our Woman Crush Wednesday edition this day. She is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of WhoGoHost Limited. WhoGoHost is currently the largest web hosting company in Nigeria and the West African region. The company started as a web hosting firm but has grown to offer a lot of other products and services to help its customers grow and succeed online.
Olawunmi started her information technology (IT) career in 2008 with an undergraduate internship in data communications at Huawei Technologies Co. Nigeria Limited. Afterward, she became a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) in 2008, and graduated from Covenant University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Engineering in Information & Communication Technology reaching the top five percentile of her class. She proceeded to delve more deeply into IT service management, becoming certified in Information Technology Infrastructure Library in 2011. As a result, she increased her knowledge of the frameworks for managing IT service delivery around the world.
Prior to WhoGoHost, she worked as the IT/Admin Officer with ennovateNIGERIA, a web development company, from 2011 to 2014. Additionally, she worked as the Portal Manager on a product called Buynownow, the first multi-vendor ecommerce store in Nigeria. For her hard work and remarkable performance that paid off in ennovateNIGERIA and Buynownow, she began her association with WhoGoHost as Technical Customer Support Officer in 2013, and became fully integrated in the company in 2014. At WhoGoHost, she has worked in various capacities, including as Head of Human Resources & Administration and Head of Billing Support, and in 2018, became its first COO.
Throughout her time at WhoGoHost, Olawunmi has been consistent in doing what she knows how to do best. She has been responsible for leading and developing teams to support the daily operations of the business in areas of HR, finance, administration and quality assurance, including coordinating the transition of the Support & Infrastructure team from limited coverage to 24/7.
Over time, Olawunmi has built a great wealth of experience across multiple functions. Her efficiency and high-quality delivery have earned more recommendations, referrals, and exposure. In 2016, she was honoured with a Medal of Devotion as a WhoGoHost Heroine for her dedication and contribution to the business. And in September 2020, she was called to pioneer the Enterprise team in addition to her role as the COO of WhoGoHost. The objective is to grow the WhoGoHost enterprise market segment and help support business growth.
This remarkable lady also loves to pass on her knowledge, and for the 2018 International Girls Day in ICT, she served as a mentor to young girls for Techy Girls Foundation.
She is married to Adesegun Onabajo and they have three lovely children. Self-motivated, resourceful, result-driven, trailblazer and passionate are some words that best describe Olawunmi. These and more are enough to make her stand out as our Woman Crush Wednesday.
