The #MeToo movement is proof that against popular beliefs women can, in fact, stand by one another. Women have come a long way, from winning the fight against the right to vote, standing up against sexism, fighting for social and economic equality, to voicing out against sexual violations. Our Woman Crush Wednesday, Tracee Ellis Ross, daughter of Diana Ross, takes today’s spot for her zeal in voicing her support for women who are survivors of sexual violence.

The goofy African-American actress and feminist who is popularly known for her role in the comedy series, Girlfriends, which premiered in 2000, and more recently, Blackish, is a strong opponent against systems that are set up to shut survivors up or disbelief them generally. She also uses her social media platforms to speak against domestic and sexual violence and sexism as a result of inequality in different institutions.

Also evident is her support for women of colour. Acknowledging the disadvantages they face in the US, she steps up to join the conversation which, hopefully, will facilitate a change.
