An adventure is an unusual and exciting experience which could be frightening or great. Sometimes it may cause pain, at other times it produces joy. An adventure can either end badly or well. But you never experience an adventure without change. Since it is all about growth, an adventure is worth investing in. Read on as we demystify five myths about adventure travel in Nigeria:
1. Adventure is a waste of time
Questions that usually arise when you embark on an adventure may make you rethink. ”Did you really travel that far to see just a mountain? Ordinary mountain? Do you have a day job?”. There is nothing wrong with your motives for having an adventure. Everything in life is all about making plans and time for what you love. Adventures build confidence and make you challenge yourself more each time. You may get revigorated after travelling through a place and looking up at the hills you have climbed.
2. Adventure is expensive
A trip to the summit of Everest or Kilimanjaro is quite expensive. Nigeria has several fun spots you can explore for close to nothing. Besides travelling with a group is always cheaper, you get discounts on transportation and hotel accommodation. Moreso, when work-related activities take you to new regions, do well to explore the place.
3. Adventure is childish
Who says that paintballing as a group was childish? There is nothing wrong with grown-up people shooting themselves with toy guns. More than ever, people are now embracing adventure as a way of life. They are eager to go on trips. Adulthood is not an excuse to not do what you have always wanted.
4. Adventure is risky
Whenever you get to your destination, find a local who will take you around. Be nice to the locals and tip them. Adventure travel is relative, it is not risky as it is what you make out of it. This does not imply that you should try extreme stuff like jumping out of a jet, feeding sharks at River Mississippi or taunting angry bulls in Spain. Do not go off limits.
5. Adventure requires fitness
Adventure is not necessarily for athletic people. Once your doctor endorses your adventure travel, this does not mean risking your life. You don’t need to be too fit or athletic to go on adventures. Your body size should even be more reason for you to go hiking and partake in other adventures.
