My beloved daughter,
You must be familiar with the adage – “Slow and steady wins the race.” When you set your mind to accomplish anything in life, you need to keep this adage in mind. Everything one sets out to achieve in life requires patience, resilience and the understanding that most worthwhile accomplishments do not happen overnight.
Nature teaches us that nothing in the process of life and living is instant coffee. In nature when you sow a seed, you need to tend to it before you can reap from what you sowed. But since we now live in a world that focuses on immediate gratification we seem to think that life is “instant coffee”
To accomplish any worthwhile goal you have to:
- Have a clear vision of the goal you want to accomplish.
- Outline an “idiot’s guide” of the practical steps you need to take to achieve what you want to accomplish.
- Review your action plan thoroughly to determine the workability.
- Set timelines for each step you need to take and make sure that you give yourself enough time to plan each step, execute it stage and evaluate each step you have taken and to confirm that the results are in line with your objective.
- Take time to savour the progress so far at each stage of the way and be grateful and thankful of set steps accomplished.
- Avoid the temptation to take short cuts.
- Keep your eyes on your prize. Do not rush or burden yourself with doubts, and vain imaginings of what may go wrong. This way you will reduce fear, stress and self-doubt.
My dear, life is not instant coffee. It takes time to achieve worthwhile goals.
Love you always,
Dad.
