Dorobucci(May, 2014):
It’s Donjazzy again! Like he did all through D’Banj’s career with Mohits records, the Don has turned another average song into a HIT!!!
Here is my ‘Doro Truth’: ‘Dorobucci’ ft. all the Mavin acts has so eaten into the entertainment industry, that fans have created their own ‘Doro this’ and ‘Doro that’.
An average song in all ramifications, but the Mavin BOSS’ ability to turn over songs to the fans and make it their own (like songs associated with African tales) has made the song a HIT! Doubt me? Ask yourself, has D’Banj made any song since leaving Mo’hits that’s beaten ‘Oliver Twist’? Even if you do not agree, the Koko Master agrees. He says he’s still going to make a song with Donjazzy, because he was the architect of his last hit.
On a scale of 1-10 the song is a 5.
Testimony (May, 2014):
Over the years, the P Square twins have done the same thing and won the fans over with every album. In art it’s an accepted fact that if you cannot do better than what is available – copy!
So, Testimony is off their upcoming album which will definitely sell, but my only fear is that the duo will lose a reasonable percentage of their female fans. Why? They are now married!
On a scale of 1 – 10 the song is a 4.5
Movies
Godzilla (May, 2014):
Since the US dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, attempts have been made to create ‘the giant lizard’ movie that will create the devastating effect of the nuclear warhead on the world. The first Godzilla movie was originally named ‘Gojira’ after world war II… Boxoffice.com with so much optimism had estimated $76 million USD, but Godzilla surprised us all when it pulled an amazing $93.2 million USD in it’s first weekend to open at number one in US theatres.
On a scale of 1 – 10 the movie is a 6.
Mama Africa(May, 2014):
This movie, starring Tonto Dikeh, Zack Orji and a host of other Nigerian (Nollywood) stars, is movie of the week in major cinemas around Nigeria.
Though the theme is centred around the ruling class and those they tower over (reflection of Nigeria and some African nations), the terrible visual elements and unnecessary predictable plots like most Nollywood movies is so average that I’ll not expect you to watch it on a weekend – waste of full ticket payment. But if you are a fan of the actors you can watch it on Mondays and Wednesdays. Why? At least you get a 50% discount and free popcorn + a can of coca-cola.
On a scale of 1 -10 the movie is a 3.5.
