“Sometimes Leaders Have To Walk Alone”.
Many say it is lonely at the top. I sat down and thought about the meaning of this. I interpret it as success can mean you have to leave old friends, associates and places behind. Most people do not like goodbyes, as it is a timeless sad song.
The following is five things that you will need to accept on the climb to success. Be encouraged because the mountaintop has a breath-taking view.
Number one – Letting friends go
This is a tough one, let’s face it. You have built up soul or lifetime connections and one day you wake up and you have out grown that complete mind-set. You realise they are holding you back and in order to succeed you must leave and move one.
Number two – Becoming tough
Yes you heard correctly. You must become tough in business or you will get eaten alive. Do not allow staff or colleagues to take advantage of you, rule with an iron rod, however be fair as well.
Number three – Accept the loneliness
When you are a leader you will feel isolated at times. There will be moments when you will spend all day and night on the computer. You may not have time to take calls or catch up with friends. Feel your feelings and remember what your ultimate goal is.
Number four – Become a person of influence
You must stand out amongst your competitors. You presence must be strong, even when silent; it is in how you project yourself. Once you become a person of influence you will live an amazing life. Have courage and keep the faith.
Number five – Enjoy the journey
It is a steep climb to the top. You must enjoy the moments along the way. Take a rest when you get tired. Do not give up or quit, keep going until you reach your objectives. When problem arise, think solution based.
