Today is International Women’s Day and our Woman Crush Wednesday, Justina Obaoye-Ajala is an experienced legal practitioner with a passion for human rights and social justice who is an emblem of equitable leadership the world over and an advocate for women in STEM.
With a PhD in International Law focused on women’s rights at the Beijing Institute of Technology, she has authored several legal articles in top legal journals. Taking an interest in human rights, Justina is involved in several advocacy programmes. She has spearheaded and facilitated several human rights forums, seminars, and activities to promote education, empowerment and equality.
Justina provides pro-bono legal services to people of African descent; and visits prison inmates, wherein she serves as an intermediary between them and their families, among other services she renders. She also works as a legal English translator for foreigners in China, helping immigrants navigate complex Chinese policies. She has been recognised by multiple local and international institutions for her services. She is a United Nations Fellow for People of African Descent, and was named one of the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD).
Known for good leadership qualities, as well organisation and communication skills, Justina has been on a mission to motivate people to join her as changemakers She serves the community in various capacities. She is the pioneering President of African Diaspora in China Network (ADiC Net), and a Member of the Parliament of the State of the African Diaspora (SOAD). She is an Ambassador of African Youth Diaspora Organization (AYDO); Ambassador of Nigeria for International Elite Women, Canada; and Global Peace Ambassador of World Youth Organization (WYO). Justina is also the Acting President of Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NiDO China). She is a Board of Trustee of African China Leadership (ACL), and Country Director of World Youth Summit (WYS).
