The leadership of the Academic staff union of university (ASUU) Benin zone yesterday condemned the renewed decision of Edo state Governor, Adams Oshiomhole to embarked on outright demolition of relics of the controversial properties belonging to its members.
ASSU equally described the action of the comrade governor as lawless and total disregard to court process even when they have filed appeal against the court judgment in favour of Edo state government over the disputed land situated at government reserved Area (GRA)
Coordinator, Benin (ASUU) zone Anthony Monye-Emina who pegged the total compensation and lost of properties from the 21 demolished buildings at over 200million naira said the union being an organised body has resolved to line up series of activities to confront the state government
He said the governor has not only failed on its promised to apologised to the affected staff, pay compensation, repaired damages, allowed court process to take its course but equally ignored series of letters to drew his attention to the pending agreement soon afterNovember 24th meeting
They equally warned those inching and nudging the governor with the sole aim of buying the properties to desist ”This is one act that is unacceptable as it serves the reprehensible purpose of abusing and weakening the institutions of the land”
