Don’t bark up the wrong tree: Don’t waste your efforts by pursuing the wrong thing or making a wrong assumption about someone or something because this may have troubling repercussions for them.
Don’t beat a dead horse: Don’t continuously continue a particular endeavour, it is a waste of time as the outcome is already decided.
A fool and his money are soon parted: A foolish person who spends her money carelessly will soon go broke and be penniless.
Slow and steady wins the race: A consistent and effective approach to something, even though slower, can give better results than jumping in hastily.
