Mother of a 16-year-old, Bolaji Kalejaiye, who was hit by stray bullets during the Mile 12 crisis has commended the Speaker of the Lagos State Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa for donating N500,000 for the upkeep of the victim to save his life.
She gave the commendation during the Obasa’s visit to the victim at the Ikeja General Hospital, Lagos.
Alero Kalejaiye said, “I’m impressed by your good gesture and Almighty God will continue to bless you. However, I still want to appeal to Nigerians to come to our aid as we battle to save the life of my son.”
Bolaji Kalejaiye was hit by stray bullets during the crisis while returning from where he had gone to write his university entrance examination.
He packed his gushed out intestines and ran to a police station where he was sent back by the police at the station.
He was however rescued and taken to a private hospital by passers-by from where he was transferred to the Ikeja General Hospital.
Obasa who was accompanied by some other members of the state House commended the bravery of Kalejaiye for having the courage to rush to hospital despite his pathetic condition.
According to the Speaker, “When I read your story, I was moved by your courage. It was through sheer courage that after being hit by stray bullets and your intestines spill out, you still had the courage to pack your intestines and run to the police station. I’m really moved.”
While praying for the speedy recovery of the boy, the Speaker later donated N500,000 for the upkeep of the teenager.
In the Speaker’s entourage included, the Chairman of the House Committee on Health, Segun Olulade, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Strategy and Security, Tunde Braimoh and Chairman of the House Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Petitions and LASIEC, Adefunmilayo Tejuoso.
Other lawmakers on the entourage of the Speaker were: the House Deputy Chief Whip, Omotayo Oduntan, the Chairman of the House Committee on Youths, Sports and Social Development, Adedamola Kasumu, and Jude Idimogu.
