The seeming cold war brewing between the Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and his Deputy, Dr. Pius Odubu ahead of the 2016 gubernatorial election Tuesday snowballed into a worrisome dimension following the suspension of Orhionmwon local government and his counterpart at ward 1, in Esan Central local government Area of the state
The on going crisis was believed to have been triggered by the wrangling in the party as to who succeeds Governor Oshiomhiole at the expiration of his two-term tenure come November 2016
Hundred of party faithful from ward 1 Esan Central Local Government who stormed the state party secretariat in protest of the suspension of the ward chairman , Mr Isaac Ikhine described the removal as unconstitutional
They accused the State party chairman, Barr. Aslem Ojezua of being a stooge to some party chieftains in the locality to unseat the ward and declared the purported suspension null and void
Also in an enlarged executive meeting held by the party executive in Orhionmwon , twenty two members equally slammed suspension order on the party chairman, Mr Ehigie over allegation bordering on high-handedness, and financial misconduct
But in a swift reaction Mr Ehigie Matthew posited ‘ As I speak to you I remain the party chairman Orhionmwon local government area because they did not follow due process of suspending elected chairman’’
He alleged that the signatories to the suspension order did not only lack the power to converged a meeting of the local government executive but that they were financially induced by the State commissioner for Oil and Gas Mr Saturday Uwulekhue.
