Netflix has announced a round of new original series and films from Nigeria. The streaming giant is showing commitment to finding and promoting talent on the African continent.
While one new series and three Nigerian films were secured by Netflix in various stages of production, some have made debut immediately. These movies and series include ‘Far From home’ created by Chinaza Onuzo and Dami Elebe, ‘Citation’ directed by Kunle Afolayan, Kemi Adetiba’s ‘King of Boys 2’ and Mo Abudu’s Oloture.
Ben Amadasun, Netflix Director of Licensing and Co-Productions in Africa, announced this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Dorothy Ghettuba, the Lead for African Originals at Netflix, said that Netflix was encouraged by abundant talents in the country to work with Nigerian content providers to produce original content for global audience.
She talked about how Netflix is proud to continue to invest in more original content from Nigeria, and is also thrilled to grow their existing creative partnerships while forming new ones with Chinaza and the amazing Inkblot team who will now join the growing list of Nigerian partners.
