22 Jump Street starring Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum and Ice Cube
A sequel (to earlier, 21 Jump Street) no one expected or wanted, but directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller stunned us all by producing a chart bursting movie. Premiering at Number one as it made cinema debut with a whopping $60 Million USD over the weekend – The sixth highest money making comedy in the history of movie making. It even sent animated family movie, How to Train Your Dragon 2’s $50 Million USD weekend debut to the cleaners! The money making comedies in history include Hangout 2 with $85 Million USD, Bruce Almighty and Austin Power 3 with $73 million USD each, and Rush Hour with $67 Million USD! 22 Jump Street killed its predecessor, 21 Jump Street which earned a mere $36 Million USD at its weekend debut by almost 70%. Ice Cube fans can expect him to add laughter to the movie, but if you are not a fan, don’t expect much from him, but Hill and Tatum partnership will definitely wow you!!!
Danger Mouse is back!
This cartoon series that ended in 1992 after ruling the 80’s will be back on our screens in 2015. No one has dropped the names of those who will voice the characters, but expect “Danger Mouse”, Penfold and more to return. In the words of CBBC controller, Cheryl Taylor, “Danger Mouse is the last word in debonair and delightful eccentric heroics… CBBC is thrilled to be kick-starting their adventures afresh… and we would win over a whole new generation of fans.” The question is, will this generation of kids appreciate “Danger Mouse”?
Music
Fancy by Iggy Azalea ft. Charli XCX
This female Australian rapper still amazes me… her song, FANCY is still holding down the number one spot on Billboard’s hot 100 after 13 weeks on the chart! How? Why? Don’t be too quick to call her a female Eminem, because I personally will appreciate it more if the song had been a rock version! Oh, those who associated her success with touring with Beyonce? For now, let me put We Dem Boyz by Diddy, French Montana and Meekmill on replay.
Bombay by Wizkid ft. Phyno
If Wizkid’s promised sophomore album could be judged by “Bombay”, then we should be set for the next starboy album – which he has yet promised again in 2014. Last year, he bragged so much about dropping the album during the first half of 2013 that up until December, 2013 fans were all over him. The music video’s mediocre status notwithstanding, the track is a must listen to.
