Plantashun Boiz were a music sensation in the 2000s. The iconic Nigerian hip-hop and R&B music group, comprised three talented members: 2face Idibia, Faze, and Blackface.
This dynamic group was formed during their college years at the Institute Of Management And Technology (I.M.T Enugu) in Eastern Nigeria, where their shared passion for music brought them together.
Recognising the need for expansion, the trio relocated to Lagos, where they quickly came to the limelight. With the addition of Faze, the music group became a formidable force in the Nigerian music scene. Fortune smiled upon them when they crossed paths with Tony Tetuila, a former member of The Remedies, further increasing their popularity. This led to the release of their debut album under the moniker “Plantashun Boiz” in the year 2000.
However, the group encountered a breakup when 2 Face decided to pursue a solo career under the Kennis Music label, causing a rift among the members. Despite this departure, they remained determined and embarked on individual journeys, with 2 Face, Blackface, and Faze each releasing successful solo albums. Fans eagerly anticipated their return, holding out hope for a reunion.
Behind the scenes, Plantashun Boiz were skillfully managed by Owoyemi Akinwale Nathaniel (Natz), Ifeanyi Oji (Odogwu), and Obasi Leonard (Baba Leo). The Plan B reunion album marked a significant chapter in their history, leading to the establishment of Plantashun Entertainment Ltd. Management in 2007, with distribution assistance from T Joe.
Plantashun Boiz remains an intricate part of Nigerian music history with their legacy living on through their timeless tunes and the enduring impact they made on the industry.
