I’m sorry Robin; I would not mourn your passing.
I would not mourn the death of a good man,
I would not discuss the circumstances over lunch with friends that just want to assert their self-righteousness,
I would not indulge them in that “alas! I am better than Robin” moment they seek,
No I would not mourn,
I mourn those young, who waste greatness on gang violence,
I mourn the fundamentalist, who blows away greatness in a moment of disillusionment,
I mourn those whom the Universe had given a blank cheque to change it forever, but piss it out on beaches and bars,
I mourn men who take their breath and the warm hug of nature for granted,
I mourn people, who enjoy this ride around the sun but feel no obligation to pay for it,
You Robin had paid with this smile on my face that’s why I cannot mourn you,
How can I mourn a man who will disregard my pain and force a laugh of out the gathering darkness?
Suddenly Death wants to corrupt the many memories of smiles into one stagnation of gloom,
Sorry Death, try harder next time for in my heart my friend remains beautiful in fun memories,
Ha! Robin, I enjoy you, I enjoy cracking up just seeing your face,
I will miss you Robin,I’m jealous that wherever you are now they are all gathered around laughing their brains out,
I always knew your jokes would take you places, but I never knew it had the power to make Angels gather around,
I will miss you Robin,
Those jokes you made remain in my head and they are your gifts to me,
Not even death could take that away.
