A drunk husband returns home one late evening and finds his wife had abandoned their conjugal bed and sleeping in the kitchen.
Appalled at the prospect of spending a cold night, he tried to persuade her to return to her nocturnal duty but she refused, resulting into a hot quarrel.
Enraged the thwarted Romeo picked up his panga (machete) and gruesomely cut the wife, Magaret Lalam, into pieces at about 11pm last week Friday at their marital home in Patongo village in Uganda.
The suspect reportedly came back home in the night drunk and found his wife had shifted from their marital bedroom to the kitchen where she was sleeping.
After satisfying his murderous intention, the suspect handed himself over to Patongo Police post.
Mr. Jimmy Patrick Okema, ASWA Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident adding that the suspect is still in Police custody pending investigation into the case.
“His file is still pending. We are yet to conclude investigations into the case after which the suspect will be committed to the courts of law to answer charges of murder,” says Mr Okema.
“We condemn such kind of brutality; we are encouraging too much drinking by men which is becoming the major cause of domestic violence in most homes’, he deplored.
