The perfect lip can make a world of difference in your look. Whether you go all out and do an entire face or like to keep it simple, having the right lipstick is essential. Here are my top three lipstick shades that every woman should own:
Nude and Creamy
As flattering as this type of lipstick can be, it’s also probably the most difficult to find. Finding the perfect nude for your skin tone takes time. A nude lip can either make your eyes pop and give you a clean, fresh and natural look, or it can make you look like a pale corpse. When it comes to nude hues, the rule of thumb is to always go one shade darker than your natural lip color, With the right shade, flesh toned lipstick suits everyone, Lucky for you, we have a few to choose from.
Classic Red
Whatever the undertone, you’re sure to have a classic (and smoldering) look when you wear red.
For a daytime look, Pair it with a shimmery champagne shadow, and amp up the glamour with black, winged liner for night.
If you wear no makeup at all, you must have a bright lip and the matte red is your calling card. It can make a huge difference in your entire look. It polishes your look, particularly red because of its sexiness. The matte red stays put and doesn’t rub off as easily. It’s a great longwearing lip color for an “I threw my hair up in a bun and had no time for anything else” type of day.
Bright, Sexy Pink
This is one of those colors that you just have to learn to love. A tried-and true standby, this color is perfect for brunch with friends or a casual date night. It’s a warm weather shade and can brighten up a simple look in a flash.
Choosing Your Lipstick Based on your Skin Tone
If your Skin is Super Fair:
Your best bet is to go nude. Think peachy lipsticks and nude colored glosses. For a glam look with major impact, try red lipstick.
Avoid: Dark chocolate and burgundy shades, they’re too contrasting with your pale skin.
If Your Skin is Super Dark:
Then you are super lucky because anything goes with darker complexions. Try orange or coral shades for a fun pop of color and don’t forget to load up on the gloss to showcase your full lips. Yes, everyone will be jealous, but that’s kind of the point, right?
Avoid: Milky or chalky colors with a lot of white in them because they’re too contrasting — unless you’re going for the 60s look.
If Your Skin Has Yellow Undertones:
Blue-based reds are perfect when you want to really dress up. Flesh tones with gloss are gorgeous for this skin tone. You can also try bronze shades for a somewhat monochromatic look.
Avoid: Purple, it’ll bring out the yellow in your skin and can make you look sickly. The same goes for anyone with yellowish teeth.
If Your Skin Has Pink Undertones:
Try peach tones for a softer look or orange based or brick reds for a classic pin-up girl look.
Avoid: Blue-based reds. This will clash with your skin tone, the results? So not pretty.
